His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Church was ceremoniously enthroned today on the feast of the Holy Protection of the Mother of God at the ancient Patriarchate of Peć in Kosovo.

Pat. Porfirije was elected the 46th primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church on February 18 last year and was enthroned in Belgrade the next day. Today’s ceremonial enthronement commemorates the importance of the Patriarchate of Peć, which became the seat of the Serbian Patriarchs in the 14th century.
